Theorizing the city means realizing that modernity and urban experiences are signs that intertwine concomitantly in the face of communicational paradoxes. In view of the empirical relations and productions of the city and its inhabitants, this article seeks to bring together the concepts of city and body, using artistic representations as a form of representativeness, struggle, resistance, language and discourse. To account for the exposed objective, a theoretical reference was sought in geography (SANTOS, 1978), in literature (MERLEAU-PONTY, 1975, 2004, 2006) and in art (CANEVACCI, 1993, 2005, 2013), authors that encompass cities, body and culture themes. To illustrate these concepts, the analysis of a graffiti work was used, which is a form of expression and representation of the phenomena lived and experienced in the city. To illustrate these concepts, the analysis of the graffiti “Resistir & Existir”, by artists Patrick Rigon and Renan Santos (2017), was used, which is a way of expressing and representing the phenomena lived and experienced in the city. Given the above, the city is home to art, and due to its subjective power, it builds the showcase for the plural body, and this responds with the discourse of resistance inside and outside itself.
