Impacto da monocultura do abacaxi sobre preservação de espécies frutíferas nativas da Caatinga e a percepção ambiental de agricultores e agentes públicos de Itaberaba/BA

O artigo aborda a relevância de espécies frutíferas autóctones no ecossistema da Caatinga e sua interação com a dinâmica socioambiental em Itaberaba, Bahia. A região destaca-se por frutas como ouricuri, umbu, maracujá do mato e jabuticaba, que possuem alto valor nutricional, beneficiando tanto a população humana quanto a fauna local, especialmente em períodos de escassez hídrica. O ouricuri é vital para a subsistência das comunidades, enquanto outras espécies geram renda e recuperam áreas degradadas, fortalecendo serviços ecossistêmicos. A monocultura do abacaxi, entretanto, restringe a distribuição dessas frutas nativas, prejudicando a diversidade socioambiental. O artigo analisa a importância de resgatar e preservar essas espécies na Caatinga de Itaberaba. Utilizando metodologia quali-quantitativa, incluindo revisão bibliográfica e pesquisa de campo, o estudo avaliou os impactos da monocultura do abacaxi no ecossistema e nas comunidades locais, além da percepção ambiental dos habitantes. Os resultados indicam preferência pela diversificação agrícola e práticas sustentáveis para equilibrar desenvolvimento econômico e conservação ambiental.
