Tree canopy coverage at urban areas - concept and method

We notice a great confusion in respect to the terms used to identify the green of the nature in the city. Among corporations of research, education and planning, we find different versions of terms for green area, open space, tree canopy coverage, these areas have the purpose of nature preservation. This work suggests concepts and a method of quantification of the tree canopy coverage. Tree canopy in Santa Cecilia district (MSP) is classified by geometric criteria of coverage, shape, connectivity, and contiguity.
