Heartland Sul-americano? Dos discursos geopolíticos à territorialização de um novo triângulo estratégico boliviano

From the standpoint of critical geopolitics, the theories of South American geopolitics stand out, once they influenced the political life in this region. Endowed with a great variety of natural resources and a diverse physiography, Bolivia drew the geopoliticians attention for losing a great part of its original territory and its shore. There are at least three different points of view about Bolivia within South American geopolitical thought. The first one characterized Bolivia as a geographical nonsense. The second view presented Bolivia as an important area of containment carried on by Brazil and Argentina. The third, and last one, has argued that Bolivia is a strategic area for South American integration purposes. This study aims to determine the changes in morphology, function and territorial structure in Bolivia in order to distinguish which of these discourses are territorialized today in Bolivia.Downloads
