This study intends to be a contribution for identifying areas vulnerable to erosion. In a methodological aspect it includes the use of Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) to assess the relative importance of factors that act in the process of coastal erosion in the district of Vilankulo, from data obtained in the field. The influence of land management practices, vegetation cover, rainfall erosivity R-and S-slope of the land was determined by calculating the coefficient of determination - R2 using data from ten places of occurrence of erosion. Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to classify and map the areas of erosion. Marginal Street and the districts of Desse and Chibuene are the most vulnerable areas to erosion and they are currently marked by ravines increasingly evident. The worsening of erosion can be explained by factors related to particular land management practices, levels of cover and rainfall erosivity. For explanation of the phenomenon of erosion in the area of this study it seems important to consider in subsequent studies, climate-related aspects of costal areas.Downloads
