The role of agrarian Geography in the theoretical debate about the concepts of capesinato and familiar agriculture

This text intends to discuss the position of agrarian geography dealing with the theoretical debate on the concept about peasant and familiar agriculture. Tbe so called "familiar agriculture" has been introduced specially in the nineties in opposition to the peasant concep t designating how they are inserted in the market. They are trying to forge a concept which would classifying and take unto consideration the external aspect of how the farmers relate them selve s with the market. We aim to confront this point of view starting a debate to prove an idea, explaining the understanding necessary to penetrate the logic and so going to the heart of social processes. The concept "familiar agriculture" was used as a platform to stand public politics interests dealing with the agrarian problem s that is why a reflection is indispensable on the science and ideology. 1 think that this kind of debate on agricultural familiar concepts concerning the peasants have to be understood through this perspective
