Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop toys focused on children with ADHD and ASD using the DTPMf – framework that combines Design Thinking with Project Management. A nine-month single-case study was conducted in a Brazilian toy company, with data collection carried out through the DTPMf – 15 tools, 15 project team members and eight interviewees – and data analysis based on content analysis with the support of NVivo software. As a result, six new wooden toys were developed, which aim to meet the specificities of children with ADHD and ASD. The originality of this research is related to the use of DTPMf in a case study and in the development of a line of products focused on an underexplored public in Brazil. Despite the DTPMf having previously proven its efficient online execution, only one meeting was conducted in person due to COVID-19, being a limitation of the study. As a practical implication, through a new product development routine, the company introduced different principles, roles, phases, events and tools, generating unique and innovative toys. Furthermore, toy designers can use this study as a basis for future inclusive projects.
