Objective: to describe and evaluate the opinion of nursing students on the use of a Serious Game (SG) as support for learning the oncotic cytology collection technique. click here to access SG. Method: this is an exploratory descriptive study. The study population was made up of 22 nursing students from a public university in the interior of São Paulo, from the discipline “Women's Health Nursing Care”, which includes in its program the teaching of the material collection technique for the cytopathological examination of the cervix, in 2020, during the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic. Results: Agreement was observed regarding the game being enjoyable and easy to use among 100% of those interviewed. There was a considerable opinion that it was possible to learn the technique through the SG (95% agreed). It is relevant that 95% of students disagreed with the statement that strategies like this can replace the teacher. Regarding the effectiveness of the SG for learning, 100% of those interviewed considered it valid. Conclusions: The SG strategy applied to learning techniques for nursing students is considered innovative and proved to be motivating among those interviewed. The SG Cytopathological Examination of the cervix was evaluated as useful for learning the technique.
