As a permanent learning process, information competency involves a set of skills, knowledge, and attitudes that enable people to deal with the complexity of the digital environment and its large amounts of information. As a field of study, it has incorporated several theoretical and methodological approaches which favor the understanding of its multifaceted dimensions. This research aims to analyze the national and international scientific production on information competency, focusing on French Discourse Analysis. Data were collected from two Brazilian databases, namely: Reference Database of Articles on Information Science Journals and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and three international ones (LISA, SCOPUS, and Web of Science) via their advanced search interfaces. Results showed no research on information competency whcih focused on Discourse Analysis in Brazilian Information Science. We found the the incipient international integration of this researchdue to the small quantity of studies we retrieved and the restricted number of involved authors. The field also lacks a research elite since the authors in this field of Studies show no dispersion. We conclude that Research requires further studies to theoretically and methodologically approximate the dimensions of French matrix discourse analysis with information competency.
