Abstract

We propose a theoretical consideration on the relationships between State and Democracy departing from the positions sustained by M. Abensour and A. García Linera. Through the critique of the representations of such relationships as harmonic or complementary ones, these authors put forward, respectively, the images of conflict and “creative tension” to think them. Although inspired in common libertarian aspirations, these images condense, in our view, approaches substantially different with regard to their capacity to characterize and produce the immanent critique of our Democracies in Latin America
