Textual genres mobilized for the productive sociocultural repertoire in essays of the 2022 Enem

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the top-scoring essays from the 2022 Enem (Brazilian National High School Exam), whose productive sociocultural repertoires are based on textual genres. The theoretical and methodological foundation is grounded in the genre theory developed by the Geneva School, alongside Bronckart (1999, 2000, 2003, 2006), as well as Baltar (2007), Bertucci (2021), Bunzen (2004), Rojo (2008), among other authors. The corpus consists of twenty-seven top-scoring essays from the 2022 edition of the Enem, published in the Cartilha Redação a Mil 5.0 magazine. The results showed the recurrence of the normative genre (1988 Federal Constitution) in nine essays, along with fourteen other genres used by participants to compose the productive sociocultural repertoire. This suggests that academic training should focus on teaching and learning a variety of textual genres, which can help students not only develop autonomous writing skills but also engage in more meaningful social interaction practices.
