This article discusses the importance of fabulation for reader development in Elementary School, taking into account aspects that guide literary reading with young readers. Fundamental elements of reception and mediation are considered essential factors for a practical approach that meets the desires of the fabulation process. Having as a starting point The mystery of the thinking rabbit, a children’s narrative by Clarice Lispector, the proposed activities promote dialogue with the perception of the need for extensively listening to the reception established by the children, which is understood as a meaningful experience. The trajectories taken in the didactic proposal establish principles that serve this listening, as well as make viable a project of reading that can resignify the teaching and reception of the literary text among developing readers.
