Abstract

Starting by the analyze of an less well known poem from Alguma poesia, “Belo Horizonte”, and of an almost forgotten essay, “Ta’i!”, the article seeks to discuss how in each one is configured the coexistence between the modern and the traditional which is in the core of Drummond’s first book. By different paths but with the same meaning in both, the Author tries to adapt the conquests modernist to a modernization incipient, which results in a process of reciprocal requalification.
