Abstract

The paper aims at discussing some aspects involved in the connection between death and contemporaneity, based on topics presented by the novels Teatro, by Bernardo Carvalho, and Rútilo nada, by Hilda Hilst, and the short story “Aventura”, by Rodrigo Naves. Walter Benjamin’s works offer a productive theoretical approach for the intended debate, covering the relations among death, experience and public sphere, all aspects present in the narratives examined. Narrative theory elements are also contemplated, observing their particularities concerning the limit situation represented by the proximity of death
