This paper explores Joe Sacco’s comics journalism works Palestine and Footnotes in Gaza, arguing that the testimonies presented by Palestinians interviewed by the author reveal traumatic experiences rooted in the multiple and persistent forms of violence perpetrated by the Israeli colonial occupation. It adopts the idea of ongoing Nakba as an interpretative framework, acknowledging that the 1948 mass expulsion of Palestinians during Israel's foundation inscribed in their collective memory as the Catastrophe was not merely a historical event, but rather the beginning of an unfinished process of displacement and ethnic cleansing that persists.
