Abstract

The objective of this Research Report is to present an interdisciplinary proposal, part of a doctoral thesis in Mathematics Education, defended in 2016. The didactic material prepared (Textbook) started from a historical immersion, proposed the exploration of the mosaics and the geometric modeling of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem and the muqarna of the Sanctuary of Bastami in Iran and addresses the disciplines of Graphic Education in Civil Engineering. In the present article, we discuss the interdisciplinary aspect of this didactic material. The theoretical framework adopted was the theory of Embodied Cognition, Lakoff and Nunez (2005) and Fauconnier (2005). The works studied were presented as architectural metaphors as Pallasmaa (2013). An evaluative research was carried out following a few steps of evaluation of teaching material suggested by Gérard and Roegiers (1998). The research was conducted with professionals who analyzed and presented contributions to the proposal. The results pointed out that the teaching material has potential to be considered as an alternative in the Graphic Education Program.
