Egyptian writer Ahmad Khalid Tawfiq (1962-2018) was one of the pioneers in Arabic literature to explore the genres of horror stories and science fiction. His most famous works include the series of paperbacks Paranormal, Fantazia and Safari, the novel Utopia and the collection of short stories A Mind Without a Body, of which a translation of one chapter will be presented. When approaching Tawfiq’s work, the characterization of his protagonists and the way in which the author appropriates elements of international literature and scientific culture to win over young audiences with a specific model of literature contextualized in the reality of his country are revealed.
