Curated by Celso Fioravante, the catalogue is a record of the exhibition by the award-winning avant-garde concrete artist Judith Lauand, which features a beautiful selection of hundreds of the artist’s works, such as canvases, photographs, studies and documents linked to her career. The objective is to publicize the important trajectory that the artist had in the arts, mainly in Brazil’s concrete movement in the 1950s. The exhibition was held at the Institute of Contemporary Art – IAC, from May 15th to July 25th, 2015. Born in the city of Pontal, São Paulo, in 1922, Judith Lauand is one of the pioneers of the concrete movement in Brazil, being the only woman to be part of the Ruptura Group, a group of artists linked to the development of Brazilian concrete art that emerged in the second half of the 20th century.
