This paper aims at analyzing the principal characteristics of the process of formation of international strategies of a fruit exporting company, located in the São Francisco Valley, Northeastern Brazil, considering the influence of external agents and of the managerial choices. In the theoretical basis the concepts of strategies are presented and following this the internationalization is defined in the light of theories such as: the “Uppsala theory”, the “diamond model”, the “resourcebased view (RBV)”, the “lifecycle of the product”, the “eclectic paradigm” and the “adaptive choice”. The empirical segment of the research is developed by means of an exploratory study, through the application of semi-structured interviews. The analysis of data was carried out with the use of the Atlas.ti 6.0 software. One observes the associations between the internationalization models and the way by which the dimensions of analysis are mutually reinforced.
