Notes and figures are provided for all known species of Rhathymoscelis Thomson, 1861 and for the related monospecific genera Mendesina Lane, 1974 and Cauarana Lane, 1974. These are proposed here as a well-defined generic group, the Rhathymoscelis-group, and are briefly described. All three genera were formerly usually classified in the subfamily Necydalinae Latreille, 1825 or tribe Necydalini of the subfamily Lepturinae Latreille, 1802, but the group is here confirmed as belonging to the subfamily Cerambycinae Latreille, 1802 based on characters of larval exuviae of Rhathymoscelis monnei Vlasak & Santos-Silva sp. nov., described from Peru. The publication date of R. melzeri Costa Lima is corrected from 1922 to 1923. A new Mexican state record is provided for R. rothschildi Lane, 1965. Rhathymoscelis haldemanii Thomson, 1861 is excluded from the Guatemalan fauna.
