Large portions of the Brazilian continental shelf and continental slope do not have detailed maps about the sedimentological mosaics, manly due to the high costs of specific oceanographic deep-water cruises. Using all records (totalizing 169 stations) of deep-sea Scleractinia azooxanthellate corals from southern Brazil between 24° and 35°S, and separating them in three different groups, the present study intends to add to the actual knowledge of the superficial sedimentology off southern Brazil, demonstrating that the records of this cnidarians can be used as tools for mapping hard, soft, and biodetrictic deep-sea substrate.Downloads
