Female Migrant Entrepreneurship and Brazilian Culture as a CompetitiveAsset: Trajectories of Brazilian Women Entrepreneurs in Germany

This article examines the entrepreneurial trajectories of Brazilian women in Germany, outlining their profiles, migratory and business motivations, the incorporation of Brazilian cultural elements into market strategies, and the institutional obstacles they face. To operationalize the research, data were drawn from a survey completed by 652 Brazilian immigrants residing in Germany, recruited through Facebook groups dedicated to the Brazilian community in the country, as well as from semi-structured interviews with 14 entrepreneurs. Anchored in the mixed embeddedness framework, the study discusses how these women entrepreneurs build their businesses by mobilizing aspects of Brazilian culture, thereby contributing to contemporary Brazil–Germany relations. The findings reveal that Brazilian cultural identity is transformed into a competitive asset, although constrained by barriers related
to bureaucracy, financing, and social capital. These results suggest the need for targeted public policies and support networks tailored to this group.
