This study is part of an extensive research on the experience of adoptive parents with regard to parenting and filiation in the adolescence of their adopted children. This qualitative study was conducted based on semistructured interviews with 10 subjects from the middle and upper classes of the population from the state of Rio de Janeiro, using the method content analysis. This study focuses on issues related to the myth of origin, to the narratives constructed about the origin of adoptive kinship ties, and to the reinterpretation of these subjects. The data acquired showed that questions concerning the myth of origin permeated the children’s curiosity on the origin and development of sexuality. The parents’ sensibility in recognizing their children’s questions was a promoting factor for family emotional health. There is a need to elaborate double filiation, both by parents and adoptive children, which creates some particularities in sublimatory destinations.
