Burns constitute a global public health problem that affects several individuals’ dimensions — including psychological ones, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) — that worsen post-traumatic growth (PTC). this study aimed to understand the experience of PTSD and CPT in burn patients undergoing rehabilitation to investigate such complex experiences. This qualitative and exploratory research was carried out with 15 participants who responded to a semi-structured interview guide. their data were analyzed on IRaMuTeQ with manual content analysis. Answers were organized into five classes that included everything from the moment of the accident that caused the burn to the positive aspects and personal growth after the trauma. The burn experience brings signs of PTSD due to the incident, hospitalization, and post-treatment. However, the possibility of CPT develops from the reframing of memories related to the burn and adaptive coping resources.
