The article analyses some criticisms that have been made to C. Lévi-Strauss's anthropology, focusing on those made by C. Geertz, given the fact that the latter have had great influence in contemporary anthropology. In this context, the article emphasizes the importance of Lévi-Strauss's contribution to important themes, such as the relation of anthropology and politics as well as the political aspects of anthropological practice. Exactly because of the fact that those themes have arisen great interest of anthropologists of several different theoretical perspectives, and at the same time have not been developed by the French master, the article aims to indicate in an explicit manner the importance of Lévi-Strauss's contribution to their analysis.Downloads
