In this paper the author analyzes the Katukina onomastic system. The Katukina, like the other panoan groups already described (Matis, Kaxinawá, Yaminawa), associate the onomastic system to the kinship system and replace in circulation the names of their ancestors. However, in spite of the similarities that the Katukina exhibit in relation to the other groups of their linguistic family, it is possible to find divergences among them. There is, particularly, a flagrant divergence in the alternate and cross transmission of the personal names, since the other panoans present an alternate and parallel transmission. Using a preliminary comparative approach, the author investigates the hypothesis that such divergences may be found both in the onomastic system and kinship system.Downloads
