Abstract

Taking the publication - in 1989 and 1990 - of of two "historic-anthropological" booklets as an typically "orientalist" trial of the Diocese of Roraima to impose a "consensus" on Roraima society with relation to the "ethnic reality" of that state of Brazil, we reconstruct the history of the formation of that "consensus", starting in the 18th century, up to the decisive ethnography of Theodor Koch-Grünberg.
