Abstract

The New Ecclesiastic Movements at the Catholic Church, which must not be confused with the most known New Religious Movements– even though between them some overlapping can be identified –,certainly address to the religion annalist some theoretical and methodologicalchallenges. Those challenges are originated, in part, from the new statusassumed by religion in modernity, but also from transformations occurredinside that Church while defining its relationship with the modern world.Since the aggiornamento of the Catholicism, between the Second VaticanCouncil and the power assumption by the former cardinal-prefect of theCongregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the world underwent importanttransformations, whose understanding and possible explanation demandnew postures of theoretical and methodological nature, that tentativelywill be able to help in the comprehension about the role and purposeof the religion in the current world.
