Abstract

This article focuses on the interpretation of the shared visionof a light ball witnessed by “me”, an anthropologist, and the “others”, ruralworkers, in the night sky during my fieldwork. Attempting to understandthis event, I try to think over the relations between the music played by amusical group (Folia de Reis) in the settlement, their ghost and spooky stories,and my different roles and places in this sociability. On the one hand,based on Bauman’s (1977) work on the ethnography of performance, I try toshow the basic aspects of two speech genres, “our struggle” and “ghost stories”.On the other hand, knowing that my specific epistemological positionand my different roles were important to this event, I follow Favret-Saada’s(2005) and Ingold’s (2000) perspectives, trying to think about the optionfor “being affected” and to be open to an “education of the attention”.

  • Danilo Paiva Ramos, Universidade de São Paulo
    Antropólogo. Doutorando em Antropologia Social pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP) com o projeto "A ferida dos astros: histórias Hupdäh em rituais de ipadu". Possui graduação em Ciências Sociais-USP (2003) e mestrado em Antropologia Social-USP (2006). Desenvolve pesquisa sobre os seguintes temas: Etnologia Indígena, Movimentos Sociais, Narrativas, Performance, Experiência e Rituais. É membro do Núcleo de Antropologia da Performance e do Drama - NAPEDRA/USP, e participa do projeto temático desse Núcleo, que possui auxílio da Fapesp. Atuou como coordenador de projetos sociais na ONG - GAIA SOCIAL, como assistente de projetos e pesquisador consultor (SSL), como professor de Antropologia e Sociologia no ensino superior (UNIB) e de História e Geografia no ensino fundamental e médio (Escola da Vila), como Coordenador em projeto educacional do Governo Federal (PROJOVEM), como membro da comissão editorial da revista Cadernos de Campo-USP, e como facilitador para a formação de cooperativas populares (ITCP-USP). Atualmente é colaborador técnico da Associação Saúde Sem Limites (SSL) para o projeto "Diagnóstico Etnoambiental e Alternativas Econômicas para os Hupdäh da região do Rio Negro (AM)".
