In The Elementary Structures of Kinship (1949), Lévi-Strauss referred to the prohibition of incest as a rule found in all peoples and at all times, that is, a universal rule that marks the transition from nature to culture. Freud in Totem and Taboo (1913), also describes this rule, but as a consequence of an murder act, than would also be originated the culture. The proposal of this text is to reflect on some possible approaches between these two theories that concerns the prohibition of incest.Downloads
