Abstract

Studies on organizational project management have been gaining ground in the last decade, due to the increasing complexity of the world of business and growing corporate competition. Within this context, shortcomings in project execution have disastrous results. To avoid them several mechanisms are being developed and the Project Management Office is one of them. In this article our intention is to analyze, through a case study compared to bibliographical references, the implementation and use of a Project Management Office as a tool for supporting project management and the implementation of organizational strategies, identifying the main difficulties and the factors that are critical for successful implementation, as well as the chief positive and negative points of employing it.
