Study of the Relationship of Parents of Elementary School Students with the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering FZEA / USP

Resumen

This article is the result of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the perceptions of parents of public elementary school students, in relation to the University Of São Paulo (USP), during the participation in the project "USP na Escolinha". The purpose of this study was to portray the synesthesia of participating parents and to verify the insertion of these individuals before this public university. We conclude that the studied group is unaware of important information, such as whether USP collects students' tuition or not. The interest of the community in participating in activities offered by the studied institution is clear, but they lack information on how to do it. In the method, the authors carried out the data collection through questionnaires, distributed by the university extension project; the target audience was parents of children aged between six and ten years-old who took part of this project. The result contributes to contextualize the challenges of community and public university communication; and the work serves as a reference for other Brazilian public universities interested in improving their extension work.
