Abstract

This article reflects on popular education on rights as a tool for fighting domestic violence against women. First we recount the experience of Maria, Marias Project,  that seeks to organize and mobilize women for the full implementation of Law 11.340/2006 (Maria da Penha Law). After presenting the project and its dynamics, the testimonials on the impact of the course from the perspective of the students of the 7th and 8th edition are worked, specially their reflections on "empowerment", "knowledge", "activism" and "network". Finally, we present some brief remarks reflecting on the potential of popular education on rights.
