Abstract

In order to contribute for the debate concerning literacy methods, in Brazil, as a result of documental research it is presented and discussed one of the most recent proposals for children literacy, that is based upon phonic method. They are presented the main characteristics of this recent proposal as so as its main mistakes in connection with others literacy methods proposed in the history of literacy in Brazil, since the end of 19th century.
