This paper is a review of the book Invention of the design: memory's fictions, by Alberto da Costa e Silva (1931), one of the most renowned contemporary Brazilian poets. Ex-ambassador in Portugal (1986-1990), Republic of Benin and Republic of Nigeria, Costa e Silva writes, in this books, about the 1940's and 1950 s years in his life and the Brazilian history, from the dictator's fall (Getulio Vargas) in 1945 to Janio Quadros renunciation in 1961. The author also remembers his first travels to Africa as Brazilian diplomat.Downloads
