Abstract

The current work discuss questions related to issues frequently aproached by the media, with suppositions about the causes of the fail in reading and writing education at Brazilian schools, that points Constructivism as the scenarys villain, and show the traditional practices" return as a way to owercame the problem. The research was released in a contexto f pedagogical arguing with literacy teachers incide and extension project of progressive graduation, and it was guided by the search for clearings about the real motives for difficulties presented by students fron Basic Education, when it comes to reading activities and text producing. The investigation was based in individuals interviews, meetings with professors and students texts analyses, and revealed that the problem is connected to inadequate alphabetic practices, wich are the resulte of na equivocated understanding of the constructivist proposes
