The proposed work analyzes the importance of the cinematographic pole of Santa Efigênia, in São Paulo, as cultural heritage. Located around Luz (1888-1900) and Sorocabana (1925-1938) railway stations, the pole was responsible for the production of films of various genres between the 1960s and 1980s, reaching about 60% of the national production in the period. Also known as “Cinema da Boca”, it was performed in an “artisanal” way, outside the big studios, with Triunfo Street as a privileged space for work and social relations. It is a cultural asset directly linked to the history of Brazilian cinema and to the consolidation of the cultural industry of São Paulo between the years 1910 and 1980, exemplifying the close relationship between it and the railroad transportation throughout the 20th century.
