Abstract

The work tried to verify the nurse's point of view of their communication process with their superiors. This is a descriptive, exploratory and correlated study, with a quantitative approach. It was made in sample with 42 nurses of a private, beneficent hospital oh an average category, in the city of São Paulo. The data had been gathered from February 28th to march 2nd, 2002. The results point some failures in their communication, which are probably causing a negative impact on their subordinates. These failures point that there is a need of the leaders to make an effort to understand what is not verbally said by their subordinates, so that the leadership will be effective and the organization's goals.
