This study aims to demonstrate the application of the Sustainable Development indicators suggested by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) for Museums. This application aims to demonstrate how it is possible to recognize the sustainability level of museums. To this end, bibliographic research was conducted, highlighting the importance of organizing such parameters, based on the characteristics of the country in which the Museum is located, and demonstrating the effective contribution of these organizations in relation to the objectives of Sustainable Development. In this preliminary study, data were collected from two museums in central Portugal. Data collection was benchmarked on Sustainability Indicators suggested and published by the OECD in 2018. These parameters were the basis for data collection, which resulted in an analysis of the sustainability level of these two museums, following OECD references. The result demonstrated an effective possibility of measuring museum sustainability levels and also shows the potential of museums to cooperate in the goals outlined by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
