Abstract

This work aims to study the possible relations between the canon in Western music and Brazilian classical music. For this, we present some considerations of the composer Heitor Villa-Lobos on Brazilian music, as well as characteristics of his works with indigenous theme. Afterwards, these relations will be confronted with the very manifestations of Brazilian native music.
