Guerrilla Girls and MASP: questioning gender inequality in museology

The Guerrilla Girls group is composed by feminist activist artists and their art denounce the lack of visibility and space that social minorities – such as women, LGBTQIA+, blacks and Latinos – have in the museum and artistic environment. In 2017, the group had its first solo exhibition in Brazil at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand, featuring works that denounce the imbalance between the visibility of male and female artists. That said, this article focuses specifically on the artistic production of the group that refers to gender inequality and which was exhibited in the MASP exposition.
