Abstract

The unmistakable romantic temperament of the analytical psychology forged by C. G. Jung could, at first glance, make him a thinker who is alien to an event that celebrates the Enlightenment as a value. However, a more detailed consideration, free from preconceived simplifications, of Jung’s thought (and of Romanticism itself) can reveal perspectives that can and should be integrated into a critical and consistent neo-Enlightenment position. I intend to demonstrate this possibility by examining Jung’s conception of individuation, understood from the angle of the universality-particularity problem.
