This small and unpretentious work focuses on some aspects of "Moda Caipira", typical folk songs from the Brazilian rural Central and Southwest regions, and places its singer, the "cantador", as an interpreter of the aspirations of the community he represents. Also, it attempts to highlight aspects of the interaction between lyrics and melodies. In so doing it emphasizes traditions of popular oral discourse of the "Romanceiro Popular" ["Traditional Ballads"], a popular anthology and a tradition that originated long ago in medieval Iberia, whose singing expression has continuously evolved, and which has spread throughout Brazil. We try in this text to analyze such thrilling topic, more thoroughly studied in the book A Moda é Viola - Ensaio do Cantar Caipira (2009).Downloads
