This text discusses some aspects related to the history of women in Brazilian soccer. It analyses the introduction of the sport in the country and the veto on women playing soccer, which lasted over 40 years and deeply impacted the structuring and development of women's soccer. It also addresses issues related to scant tournaments, low media visibility and lack of women's teams from major sport clubs. Also, it highlights the "Soccer Shoe Country" is still short-sighted as regards women's soccer.
