A retomada da integração regional à luz da liderança internacional do Brasil

Regional integration processes have undergone several changes in recent decades, subject to international crises of different orders and domestic issues, changes in government, participation of social actors and a positive perception of public opinion. This article aims to review the construction process of the Common Market of the South (Mercosur), from its origins to the setback suffered in the most recent period. In addition to the impact that countries suffered from the covid-19 pandemic, in relation to cooperation patterns, the disinvestment of the Brazilian government, responsible for regional leadership and the international insertion of the South American continent, increased the challenges for the resumption of visibility country and region in the world.
