Abstract

For many years, the low representation of some groups in technological areas, especially women and black people, has been discussed. In this article, we examine the case of artificial intelligence, where the panorama is not different. We discuss the effects of a lack of diversity in groups developing AI and initiatives worldwide to mitigate them. We show a specific case – machine translation systems, a sub-area of AI – in which gender stereotypes appear.
