Abstract

This article aims at making an introductory presentation on the methodology of Social Network Analysis (SNA). Thus, it deals with the main features of said methodology and its theoretical and epistemological foundations; and it also highlights where SNA is most prominently applied in Brazilian social sciences. Finally, it puts forward and example of how SNA is employed when investigating the relation between homophily and inequality in associations, based on an empirical research conducted by the authors.
