A justiça e o custo Brasil

The proper functioning of the judicial system used to be a matter of exclusive concern to operators of law. Currently, the issue has come to be viewed as an important item that contributes to the so-called Brazil Cost. Brazil Cost is understood as the additional costs of doing business in Brazil, compared to other countries. The purpose of this article is to discuss the relevance of the Judiciary in determining the Brazil Cost. We argue that in Brazil there is a high level of legal uncertainty and a slow-paced court system, which increases the risks and costs of economic transactions, hurting the competitiveness of Brazilian companies. As the Judiciary is likely to be increasingly called upon to act on the national economic life, it will be critical to promote its efficiency and strengthen judicial certainty in order to reduce the Brazil Cost.Downloads
