This text deals with the growth and distribution of Brazilian medical schools, health insurance and medical assistance in Brazil, the role of SUS [Unified Health System], and health financing (public and private sectors). It also analyses the concentration and shortage of physicians across the country, the Family Health Program, the work of generalist and specialized physicians in delivering health care, the recruitment of medical workforce from other countries, the role of technology in health care delivery, deficiency in professional training, and the Brazilian demand for physicians.
