Abstract

This work aims at justifying the inclusion of Brazilian rap in the great area of Languages, Codes and their Technologies of the high school, particularly in what the teaching of Portuguese and Literature is concerned. In this sense, are presented elements such as: curriculum theories, the laws and indicatives to the Brazilian education, and the manifestation of rap in time (through their historical-discursive phases) and in space (in all of nationwide). For a long time the Brazilian rap has occupied a central position in urban cultural production in the country. Still, the use of rap lyrics in the classrooms of the official education system has been rare.
